Maine’s marijuana retailers saw record sales in May. The state’s recreational marijuana market opened Jan. 30, 2016, but the state’s public health-based approach to regulating and taxing it has been somewhat confusing to many Mainers. The confusion has created panic among some who are afraid they’ll be arrested for buying or selling marijuana. Others have worried that as a new “social experiment” in which they are the guinea pigs, they might end up getting arrested, fined, or worse.
Maine’s marijuana retailers saw record sales in May, leading to a $7.6 million month-to-month revenue jump for the Maine system, the state’s Cannabis Control Commission reported on Wednesday.
